Susan Tillotson Bunch Earns CIPP/US Designation

TAMPA, FL (July 28, 2017) —Thomas & LoCicero PL is pleased to announce that Susan Tillotson Bunch, a partner and attorney practicing full-time in its Tampa office, has been designated as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States, “CIPP/US”, by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, “IAPP”.
Founded in 2000, the IAPP is a not-for-profit association that helps define, support and improve the privacy professional globally. It is the largest global information privacy organization in the world, with more than 12,000 members in 78 countries. The CIPP/US designation is awarded to individuals that demonstrate, via experience, training and testing, mastery of privacy related laws and concepts, across all areas, for private sector entities in the United States.
Ms. Bunch received the CIPP designation upon passing the CIPP/US examination, which required knowledge of:
- Federal privacy laws, including Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and various other sector-specific privacy statutes and regulations
- Various state information privacy and data breach notification laws
- U.S. federal regulation of marketing practices, including Do Not Call, CAN-SPAM and the Junk Fax Prevention Act (JFPA), Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)
- Employment-related privacy laws, plus best practices for privacy and background screening, employee testing, workplace monitoring, employee investigation and termination of employment.
Only a small number of attorneys are CIPP certified, as the certification primarily is sought by Chief Privacy Officers, information technology specialists, information security leaders and other industry professionals.
